Clan Johnston/e in America has been recognized by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as an educational and charitable organization which is exempt from taxation under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. Contributions to Clan Johnston/e in America are tax deductible under U. S. law.

Clan Johnston/e in America welcomes donations in the following categories:

   * Unrestricted donations: spending from this fund provides the maximum amount of flexibility to apply donation monies to any of the various Clan Johnston/e in America projects and activities.
      

   * Memorials: for deceased CJA members, family members, friends. When we receive memorial donations, we write a note to the donor, and send a note to the Spur and Phoenix with the name of the person memorialized (but not the $ amount). The donor will be provided an email link to indicate who the donation is in memory of, and any additional information.
      

   * Honoraria: as for memorials, spending from this fund is unrestricted and the donor will be provided an email link to indicate who the donation is in honor of. The name of the honoree will be noted in the Spur and Phoenix.
      

   * Lochwood Tower: Clan Johnston/e in America is proud to sponsor a new program for the study and preservation of the Lochwood Tower site. Donations are earmarked for the Lochwood Tower Restoration Fund. For further information, see the Lochwood Tower Project
      

   * Scholarships: Clan Johnston/e in America provides scholarships to study the Scottish arts, such as piping, drumming and highland dancing.
      

   * Trophies and Awards at the Highland Games or other major Scottish heritage competitions and/or events: provides awards for dancing, piping, fiddling, singing, poetry, prose, etc.
      

   * Scottish heritage/cultural organizations.
